writing, research and public speaking

Writing has emerged as a parallel practice to my culinary work, a space to articulate what food already communicates. I write about Black diasporic foodways, radical hospitality, and self and collective care, alongside other creative explorations. My work spans from recipe writing, personal essays, interviews and cultural critique and I have contributed to Chicken and Bread Zine, The Guardian, Bustle and Gal-Dem, among others. I publish a weekly newsletter for readers interested in the social, political and cultural dimensions of food. Subscribe using the link below!
I love exploring ideas through words, so if you have a literary project in mind, I’d be thrilled to hear from you.

I’ve had the privilege of speaking at a range of events—from academic conferences and cultural festivals to wellness retreats and public talks—where I engage audiences through thought-provoking discussions and immersive experiences. My approach is rooted in storytelling, performance, and interactive learning, creating an environment where participants leave with new perspectives on food, culture, and community care.

I investigate food as a lens for memory, identity, culture, wellness, and care.
By drawing on my Black American, Jamaican, and British heritage, I examine the social and cultural lineages that influence how we eat, how we nourish ourselves, and how we sustain community. These investigations inform workshops, dinners, talks, and other creative collaborations, making research a practice that is lived, shared, and tasted.
