POP UP @ JAZU DEPTFORD 8-11 APRIL

Soul food has a long, rich, vibrant history, but it is still largely unseen in London’s dining scene. Originating in the American South in the 1800s, it is a cornerstone of Black American culture and identity. While fried chicken is often what people think of first, at the heart of soul food is technique, skill, and transformation, and beans, greens, and cornmeal are its foundation. It is a beautifully unique mixture of West African, European and Native American flavours, ingredients and techniques.

Inspired by my Black American, Jamaican, and British heritage, this plant forward menu reimagines traditional soul food, layering bold flavour, cultural memory, and contemporary expression to create something new, but intentionally referential.
